Modernization at Olympus

Project:

Creation of a central material flow control with highly configurable interfaces following centralization of several locations in order to be able to centrally manage warehouse components from different manufacturers. matCONTROL now controls conveying technology from Gebhardt, conveyor technology from SwissLog, a container storage warehouse from Gebhardt, an automated small parts warehouse from Beewen and a consolidation-to-light system from KBS.

Results of the Modernization:

• The retrieval strategies were optimized, thus eliminating problems in management.

• The flexibility of the system improves problem handling.

• The installed software is not only easy to modify, but also supports the fast and easy integration of additional warehouse components in the future.

• Improvements were also made in the area of routing and utilization of the conveyor system.

• Overall, the logistics processes were optimized in such a way that the daily operating times were shortened despite the same order volumes.
